Marlborough Man author Alan Carter's first crime novel, centering on detective sergeant Philip 'Cato' Kwong, won Australia's prestigious Ned Kelly Award for Best First Fiction in 2011 and became a series, translated around the world. A first-rate crime novelist, Carter discusses the local influences on his latest work with author Karen Stade.
