Royal New Zealand Ballet Present's COPPELIA

Jack-the-lad Franz is infatuated with the beautiful Coppelia without realising she is in fact a life-sized doll, created by the mysterious inventor Dr Coppelius. His feisty fiancee Swanhilde is disgusted by his disloyalty, but when Franz¡¦s life is in danger, she tricks the doctor by disguising herself as Coppelia (the doll) in order to save her love. Crisis averted, the couple marry and celebrate with their friends in the village square.

New Zealand dance legend Sir Jon Trimmer reprises the great character role of Dr Coppelius, a role he first performed for the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 1964.

Choreography: after Marius Petipa
