Nelson Arts Festival presents GERARD HINDMARSH - KAHAWAI: THE PEOPLE'S FISH

Nelson Arts Festival presents GERARD HINDMARSH - KAHAWAI: THE PEOPLE'S FISH

Golden Bay writer Gerard Hindmarsh celebrates this under-appreciated fish in his latest book.

There's history, plenty of fishing stories and tips on how to catch these beautiful, fighting fish. The bag limit is 20, there's no minimum size - Kahawai is truly 'the people's fish'.

Catch it, then eat it - the book has over 30 recipes from Melanie Walker. Prepared properly, Kahawai is delicious, and if they've been running in the Bay you may be in for a small but tasty treat.

Gerard and Melanie are in conversation with Cawthron scientist and lifetime fisherman John Hayes.
