Lilia Carpinelli and Matteo Napoli - A Touch of Italy

International performers Matteo Napoli and Lilia Carpinelli are getting ready to delight opera fans at NCMA.

The Italian duo comes back to Nelson after nearly 10 years to present a concert called 'A Touch of Italy'. A programme of Italian well known operatic and non operatic arias. A journey that goes from Vivaldi , Rossini , Verdi, Puccini to most popular traditional neapolitan songs.

Let the passion of this couple on stage and in life inspire you with some of the best melodies from their native Country.

Matteo studied piano with some of Europe's most famous pianists, including Aldo Ciccolini, Nikita Magaloff, Alfredo Speranza and Yvonne Lef├ębure. After finishing his studies, he succeeded in establishing a distinguished international career for himself as a pianist.

Early in his career he captured worldwide attention winning many competitions, including first prize in the International Liszt Competition at Lucca, in Tuscany, in 1986.
Signed to international label Naxos, he has recorded nine CDs. These have included several world-first recordings.
The musician has performed in some of the major centres of Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand as a recitalist and concerto soloist with top orchestras, including the Auckland Philharmonia. And he was the soloist in the world premiere of Piano Concerto No 6 by Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838), performed in Auckland during 2003 with Uwe Grodd as the conductor.
Napoli has given master classes for pianists and singers all over the world and has taught at Auckland University as well as at the Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Martucci di Salerno .

Educated in Europe and New Zealand, Italian lyric coloratura soprano Lilia Carpinelli holds a Master of Music (First Class) from Auckland University and a Singing Degree from Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Martucci Salerno (Italy).
