MSO welcomes back Ken Young for this attractive and imaginative programme based on the culturally rich german- Austria history and mystery.

In Weber's 'Oberon' Pverture we stroll through the fairy world of elves and enter a magic realm of Oberon's enchanted horn. Mozart wrote his syphony No.1 when he was 8 years old as an already internationally known wunderkind!! One can hera the influence of his father as well as the sons of J S Bach.

Richard Strauss, too, was greatly influenced by his father who played the horn at the end of Cort Opera in Munich. We welcome Emma Richards from the APO to perform this colourful Romantic concerto.

Beethoven's so familiar Symphony No. 2 is full of life and vigour, at times dreamy and idyllic, with gay and playful humour - all culminating in a powerful grandeur.
